Two Old Grumps

You probably think that this dish of chocolates is for offering to children, trick or treating.

You'd be wrong. I'm sorry, but I do not agree with trick or treating. The chocolates are all for the  'Old Grump' and me. We'll turn out the lights and hope that they think we are not at home. Yes we are a pair of 'Old Grumps'.

Of course, we don't turn them away if they do turn up, we just don't encourage something we don't agree with.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Saturday 30 October 2010

A note to my family.

Don't forget, British Summer Time ends tonight.

Geriatric Rabbit

My daughter is away for the weekend, so Mortimer Bunny Fluff  has come to stay.

He used to come with his mate, Willow Bunny Fluff, but sadly she went over the 'Rainbow Bridge' earlier this year.

Mortimer and willow were rescued bunnies and they came from the R.S.P.C.A. Since joining our family they have been very much loved bunnies and Willow is very sadly missed.

The pictures above were taken in 2005, when the bunnies used to scamper around the house.

Mortimer is now an old man who suffers from arthritis and I'm afraid he doesn't always make it to his litter tray. So now he has to stay in his pen, but with twice daily medication and constant cleaning of his pen, he is still a happy chap.

Mortimer Today.

Cheese

What has happened to the keeping quality of cheese? I'm sure it used to last longer than one week. I was looking forward to a wensleydale cheese and apple chutney sandwich for lunch. I had to think again.

I'm not the only one to have noticed that cheese is not keeping very well, three other people have mentioned it to me. What are the 'creamery people' or the supermarkets, doing to it?

Have you remembered the camera?

Yes, I remembered the camera, but did I remember to check how much charge was left on the battery? Well no, but I got a few photos of this mornings walk before the camera stopped working. There was still frost on the ground when we set off and the sky was blue, perfect walking weather.

Warm again

It is cold

The pump on the central heating boiler has died. It has worked hard for nineteen years, but today it stopped spinning. It is a solid fuel boiler and our only form of heating, apart from a small electric fan heater. The part required to fix it is obsolete and to replace the boiler would cost at least two to three thousand pounds. Hmmm?
The old grump is on a mission to resurrect the fan. Fingers crossed.
Now, where are those woolly jumpers?

Swede/Turnip

I know that this is a swede, but I'm sure that when I was a little girl we called it a turnip. Is it all in my imagination?

Oliver

My little man, Oliver.

I've just spent the best part of two hours learning how to make photos  smaller. I thought that I could just click on a photo of my little man and say, " put it here". I should have known better. The Old Grump says that I have to make photos smaller. I am not computer literate. Weird things could happen on this blog.

Oh no! I've gone and done it.

Yes, I've started a blog. How much will I have to say and how long it will last? I don't know.
