Grass Snake

Well, it has been a long time, but I still haven't got a better picture of the vole or perhaps I ought to say voles. However, I did get a decent, for my standards that is, picture of this -

Shame that it was dead.

Poor thing had been squashed on the road. Oh, I do wish we didn't have to have cars.

It was only a youngster.

Niddy Noddy and a Mission

Jane, here are a couple of pictures of the Niddy Noddy..

It is used for winding skeins of yarn.

 The Mission.

We have a little visitor or maybe two or three or - - - - who knows how many.
Our little visitor is leaving a stash of food in our garage. We can see him/her/ them coming and going under the garage door, but we don't think that they live in the garage.
Is it a mouse or a vole?
It's there,under the bird table.

I think it is a vole.

What ever it is, it's very bold and rather cheeky, almost walking over my feet when I was cleaning the bird table.
Now I'm on a mission to get a good photograph so that I can identify him/her. If only it would stay still long enough for me to focus my eyes on it, let alone time to focus the camera. This may take a while.

It's all very exciting! I've been to 'Wingham Woolwork'.
What a wonderful place it is - very welcoming and lots of knowledgable advice.
I went with 'Dizzy Daughter' and my sister in law and we were all worse than children in a sweet shop. There were lots of, "Ooohs" and "Ahhhs" and  ahh mm, errm, spending.

I treated myself to this :-

And this :-

Oh and a niddy noddy, but I forgot to take a photo of that.
Now I'm embarking on the journey of learning how to spin an even yarn and yesterday I sat spinning whilst listening to this:-

It certainly didn't forget to rain.
Now it's back to the wheel. Weeeeee! Yeahhhh!
I know, you have to have a 'thing' about wool and sheep to understand.

City of York Embroiderers' Guild Exhibition
started today and is on untill Sunday at the Guild Hall York.
 10am - 4pm.

I enjoyed making him, but even though I've lived with him for a few weeks now, he still doesn't have a name.

I think I will have to accept the fact, that he will always be called, 'Dragon'.

Well, it looks like my summer reading list is sorted.

I've read the first one and can't wait to find out what happens next. If you know, please, don't tell me.

At the Back Door, Behind the Bench.

I found a note pushed through the letterbox, 'Parcel left at the back door, behind the bench'.
Ooh! I wonder what it is?

The 'Old Grump' has been shopping at Amazon.

Looks exciting!

I was expecting more than that.

How much cardboard?

The 'Old Grump' trying not to laugh.
It won't be wasted though. I think that whoever packaged it new, that in a couple of weeks, the 'Hoppities' are coming to stay.

The 'Hoppities' will love this :-

How many weeds?

Gardening, gardening and more gardening

and the house is in danger of being taken over by fairies.

Meet Flora

Flora's eyes aren't really crooked, it's the way she's sat.
I've managed to put a stop to the fairy invasion though. I've sent Flora off to live with someone else.

Choc drop fungi.

Our lawn has suddenly begun to grow chocolate drops.

I don't remember sowing any chocolate drop seeds.

Where did he suddenly spring from?

He wasn't feeling very sociable and soon went on his way.

I've been shopping.
I decided to resist temptation.

I started this embroidery last year, but have only just found time to finish it. It's  made  from a 'Royal School of Needlework'  kit.

Who's That?

Who's that standing on the gate?

It's a pleasant pheasant.

Not very hungry, she didn't stay for long around the bird table even though there was seed on the floor.
I suspect she had been sharing breakfast with our neighbours' hens.
It was nice to see her. I hope she calls again soon.

I don't want to play in the snow, so my snowmen are staying warm and cosy.

Don't worry, they won't melt.
